The team news is in for this afternoon’s pre-season friendly against Bradford Bulls at Odsal Stadium, in association with Jadan Press.
The Black & Whites return to action for the first time in 2024, with Tony Smith naming a young squad for the test against the Betfred Championship outfit.
Eight members of the squad have Betfred Super League experience, including Will Gardiner who captains the side, wing duo Harvey Barron and Lewis Martin, and exciting hooker Denive Balmforth – all players included are aged 22 and under, and all but one are products of the club’s Centre of Excellence – either current or former.
Having signed a deal in the off season following a successful trial period in 2023, Damel Diakhate makes his first appearance for the first team, starting at prop, while Tony Smith will provide opportunities for a handful of current academy players who are named on the bench.
