Job Description

Betfred Super League club Hull FC are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and engaging individual to join our team of Club Mascots on home match days at the MKM Stadium, who will play a crucial role in enhancing our fan experience.

As part of our partnership with main club partners Ecostrad, the premier producers of high-end electric heating solutions, the club has introduced a new mascot for 2024 - Wattie.

Designed to bring to life one of Ecostrad’s most popular products, the best-selling iQ Ceramic, it has already become one of the most talked about mascots in 2024 with over half-a-million social media impressions when unveiled.

As Ecostrad aims to increase their visual presence in 2024, their brand-new mascot will be in and around the MKM Stadium on match days, engaging with supporters both young and old, alongside the iconic Airlie Bird and Girlie Bird!

The mascot will also be present at various club and community events throughout the year.

Wattie is a fun, exuberant and entertaining ambassador for both Ecostrad and Hull FC, who will proactively engage with supporters of all ages.

Wattie should represent fun, fair play, and sportsmanship and aim to leave a memorable impression on all supporters that they come across.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an outgoing individual who enjoys and is comfortable working with large crowds, and entertaining Rugby League fans within the fast-paced environment of a Hull FC match day at the MKM Stadium.

The individual should be comfortable engaging and having fun with supporters of all ages, and have the ability to communicate, particularly with young people, through the use of visual cues e.g. waving, dancing, celebrating, photo opportunities, both pre-match in our West Park Fan Zone and Family Lounge, and within the stadium bowl while the game is in play., energizing the crowd and contributing to the overall excitement of the event.

The individual should be reliable and committed to the role, with the willingness to work at both evening and weekend fixtures throughout the Betfred Super League season, as well as at other club and community events away from match days when required.

Requirements

• Be 18 years of age or older.

• Possess, or have the ability to apply for, an in-date DBS.

• Able to work evening and weekend fixtures.

• Committed to safe working practices.

• Willing to undertake training appropriate to the role.

• Maintain the character’s integrity and adhere to expected guidelines, while representing Hull FC and Ecostrad with professionalism and enthusiasm at all times.

Previous experience in a similar role, and a general knowledge of the sport of Rugby League, as well as a full UK driving license is desired.

The individual should have a reasonable level of personal fitness to ensure they are capable of withstanding wearing the suit for extended periods of time, and able to move freely around the stadium and its vicinity.

• A match day fee of £50 per appearance, and an hourly rate of £25 an hour for non-match day events.
