Fash Claims 2022 Player Of The Year Award

The 26-year-old has taken three key awards in 2022

Brad Fash has won Hull FC’s 2022 Atropa Pharmacy Player of the Year award, brought to you in association with CCT Infotech.

The forward joins a highly-esteemed group to have won the club’s prestigious award, becoming the first Hull-born player to win the Player of the Year title since Scott Taylor in 2018.

Fash, a Hull FC Academy graduate, began the year by captaining his boyhood club for the first time in a pre-season friendly against Bradford Bulls, a match in which the 26-year-old scored the first of three tries in 2022.

That set the tone for Fash’s campaign, in which he made 25 appearances, with the forward claiming a couple of further tries against Warrington and Salford throughout the season.

His endeavours did not go unnoticed by his fellow team mates and Black & Whites supporters, with Fash also claiming the Jacuzzi®️ Player’s Player of the Year and Getextra Supporters’ Player of the Year, in association with FC Voices.

Into his fourth season with the Airlie Birds, Jack Brown has won the 2022 Kinetic Laboratories Young Player of the Year, in association with the Hull FC Vice Presidents.

The 22-year-old’s season came to a premature end after he suffered a shoulder injury in August, but 24 admirable performances with a try to boot was enough to see Brown named this year’s Young Player of the Year.

Four Hull FC Academy players were handed debuts throughout the 2022 campaign as Denive Balmforth, Davy Litten, Charlie Severs and Matty Laidlaw got their first Super League experience. The latter has been named the Pearson Electrical Academy Player of the Year, in association with The Kirkwood Family.

The 18-year-old prop, who made his debut at Magic Weekend against Hull KR went on to make seven appearances for the Black & Whites. His season isn’t over just yet though, as he is hoping to be involved in the Academy’s play-off semi-final tie against St Helens this Saturday.

Just a week after putting pen to paper to sign a contract extension, Cam Scott has won the SS Testing Try of the Season.

His chip and chase effort in March’s comprehensive victory against Salford Red Devils in Round 3 of the Betfred Super League drew in almost 50% of last week’s supporters vote!

This year’s Martin Merrikin Clubman Award has gone to Hull FC Community Foundation coach Sam French, who has fronted up the delivery of Primary School Sports Partnerships, which engages with over 1,000 primary school children at over 30 schools in the region each year. Sam has also been integral in delivering over 850 hours of free-to-attend rugby camps during the summer holidays.

Local veteran Dennis Harrison, whose story we brought you on hullfc.com earlier this year, has been crowned the club’s Volunteer of the Year. Each week this year, he has given up his own time to take care of the grounds of the Hull FC Community Hub and Bonus Youth Performance Centre, cutting the grass, trimming hedges and collecting any litter. A special mention must also go to Dennis’ canine friend Daisy, who never leaves his side!

Finally, Isabelle Brown has been crowned the 2022 Reflex Consult Women’s Player of the Year. Brown, who featured in the title-winning Under 16s Girls team for the Black & Whites this season, has also been given a taste of open-age rugby league for Hull FC’s Women’s Team in the Championship.

Brown, who is just 16-years old, was also one of five Hull FC Girls players to represent Central Yorkshire in the Under 15s and Under 16s Talent Hub fixtures in Wakefield this July.

The club’s first ever LDSL Player of the Year will also be crowned in a separate presentation evening later in the autumn.
