Ligi Sao, Chris Satae, Manu Ma’u and Joe Lovodua have been named in the Combined Nations All-Star squad to face England this weekend.

Ligi Sao, Chris Satae, Manu Ma’u and Joe Lovodua have been named in the Combined Nations All-Star squad to face England this weekend.

The four Black & White overseas stars will line-up for Ellery Hanley’s side at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday 18th June (5.00pm), having been included in the final 21-man squad.

Satae, who has both Tongan and Fijian heritage, represented the All-Stars in last year’s victory over England alongside teammates Jake Connor and Andre Savelio, but will be joined by new faces from the Airlie Birds this year in the form of Sao (Samoa), Ma’u (Tonga), and Lovodua (Fiji).

All four have impressed for Brett Hodgson’s side in 2022, and have been rewarded with a call-up to face Shaun Wane’s England squad in their warm-up match for the Rugby League World Cup.

Satae was recently called up for the Fiji side ahead of the tournament later this year, and will be hoping to represent one of his heritage sides in the Autumn, while Lovodua will similarly be hoping for another World Cup call up for his beloved Fiji side having been a regular feature during the 2017 competition.

Sao meanwhile will be aiming to pull on a Samoan jersey once more having made his international debut in 2018, and playing the the 9s World Cup tournament ahead of joining the Black & Whites at the end of 2019.

The Combined Nations All-Stars squad, which sees eight Betfred Super League clubs represented, includes seven stars who featured in last year’s 26-24 win over England, as well as a whole host of new faces.

New names include Daryl Clark, Brodie Croft, Mahe Fonua, Jacob Miller, and Samisoni Langi who will line up alongside previous representatives Rhys Martin, Matt Prior, Kenny Edwards, and Kruise Leeming.
