Darnell McIntosh says his Hull FC team mates are feeling refreshed after a short break, but he insists he can’t wait to get back to action.

The wing man has been in great form over the last two months, taking his tally of tries up to nine in all competitions this season.

He has scored braces in each of his last two matches against St Helens and Wigan Warriors, following on from an impressive hat-trick against Toulouse at the end of April.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, McIntosh explained how much he is enjoying playing at the moment, whilst discussing the benefits of a week off for the squad.

“For me, I always look forward to the next game and then the next one after that, so if it was up to me I would have liked to have played the week after Wigan,” McIntosh said.

“But for the group, the break has been really just, just having that brief amount of time to step away from the game.

“It also allows you to tackle one or two games at a time before your break. We’ve got an international break in a couple of weeks so that gives us another couple of games to really focus on.

“We’ve got two really tough games coming up against Wakefield and Catalans, so it’s another chance for us to get our heads down and really focus on those two and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Following last week’s Challenge Cup Final, it’s back to Betfred Super League action for the Black & Whites this Sunday.

Brett Hodgson’s side head to the Be Well Support Stadium, the ground where their 2022 campaign got underway back in February, with a hard-fought 16-12 victory over Wakefield Trinity.

Several games later, Hull sit 5th in the table after an impressive 31-22 victory over Wigan Warriors last time out at the MKM Stadium, a match in which McIntosh believes FC set out the high standards they have been working towards.

“They’re the standards that we’ve been looking to set all year,” McIntosh said.

“I actually feel that we’ve met those standards in a few games this year, but I think that game in particular was a real statement from us.

“It’s up to us to carry that on and maintain those standards, no matter who the opposition is each week.

“We want to be putting those kind of performances in every week and making sure we get the wins.”
