Manu Ma’u has been named as Hull FC’s Getextra Player of the Month for April, while Denive Balmforth has picked up the SS Testing Try of the Month award for his effort on debut against Toulouse.

Ma’u narrowly beat fellow forward Ligi Sao in the vote, with Brad Fash and Jack Brown also nominated for the award.

The Tongan forward enjoyed an impressive month in April; having recovered from injury in March which saw him miss the start of the season, Ma’u appeared in all five fixtures, including our three consecutive home wins over Warrington, Catalans, and Toulouse.

He also featured in four of the month’s Campbell Engineering Man of the Match votes, coming out on top once, and second twice.

Meanwhile, Denive Balmforth picked up the SS Testing Try of the Month award for a memorable try on debut against Toulouse.

The 18-year old academy star joined the club from Warrington earlier this year and has made a big impact on his U18s side since arriving – so much so that Brett Hodgson decided to give the hooker his professional debut against the French side.

Balmforth topped off a memorable day with an eye catching try in the 48-12 win at the MKM Stadium.

Brett Hodgson collected the award on Balmforth’s behalf, with the youngster involved in the Yorkshire squad last week.
