Five reasons why you won’t want to miss #DerbyDay!

Club News

The biggest Hull Derby in a decade is upon us tomorrow, and if you’ve not got your tickets yet, here’s five reasons why you do not want to miss out tomorrow!

1. It’s the biggest event the city of Hull has seen since the start of the pandemic!

Over 15,000 lively fans will be packed into the MKM Stadium for tomorrow’s clash, making it by far and away the biggest event in the city since the last time the two sides met in February 2020, and there won’t be another event bigger in Hull this year!

2. We’re all back under one roof!

Our fans are everything, especially when it comes to the Hull Derby, and that was evident more than ever the last time the sides met in October 2020. Taking place at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, it just wasn’t the same without you there. You, the fans, make the this club special, and make the Hull Derby as exciting, as fierce, and as electric as it is!

3. It’s Rugby League’s greatest rivalry!

We don’t tend to agree on much with that lot over the river, however, if there’s one things we’ve got in common, it’s the knowledge that the Hull Derby is the only true derby in Super League, the greatest in rugby league, and one of the best in British sport.

Don’t listen to them lot down the other end of the M62 with their nonsense about the Earl of Derby! You’ve got to travel 25 minutes up the road to dish out the banter if you’re a Wigan or Saints fan. In Hull, just go into work the morning after Derby Day and you’ll soon find out who’s won!

4. This is the biggest, most important Hull Derby in years!

Okay – maybe reality TV star Scotty T professing his love for the Black & Whites all over social media this week, and his attendance at the game, isn’t quite enough of a draw, but the fact this is almost certainly the biggest Hull Derby for a decade, certainly is!

We’re at the business end of the season, with both teams battling hard for a spot in the Betfred Super League play-offs! A win for either side would be huge in the context of their seasons.

5. The big names are back for the Black & Whites, including Jake The Snake!

After several weeks of playing with a depleted squad, the Black & Whites are set to welcome back some of their biggest names, including star full-back Jake Connor just days after signing a two-year contract extension with the club and committing his future to the Airlie Birds!

Marc Sneyd and Andre Savelio are also back in the squad, alongside key names including Carlos Tuimavave, Danny Houghton, Scott Taylor, Manu Ma’u, and Joe Cator!

And, we could see the long awaited return of a Hull-born hero – Jamie Shaul, after 10 months on the sidelines with a serious ACL injury, is named in Brett Hodgson’s squad and set to feature. What a match to make your return!
