Sore Bodies Rallied Through, Says Satae

Satae explains the challenges of backing up after a short turnaround

Chris Satae came off the field battered and bruised after last night’s win over Castleford, but he was delighted to come away with the two points.

The powerful prop has been in fine form of late and added another solid performance to his collection at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle last night, running 143 metres and making 35 tackles, the joint-second highest of any Hull player.

It was an impressive effort from Satae, backing up from the Challenge Cup semi-finals just five days prior.

“It was actually really tough. Both teams had a short turnaround, so we knew it was going to be tough out there,” he said.

“There were some sore bodies for sure, but we’re really happy to come away with the win.

“Hats off to Cas. They kept fighting in there and they kept challenging us all the way, so it was a good, tough game and important that we came away with the win.

“It was definitely a fiery one, as you could see both teams really going for it. It’s tough when it’s like that, but that’s rugby league!”

The Black & Whites were guided to victory by Marc Sneyd last night. Even though he was sent to the sin-bin for the final ten minutes of the game, that had no bearing on the end result.

Sneyd has taken up one of the captaincy roles in the team this season, and Satae believes the halfback has taken to it like a duck to water.

“Sneydy is one of our captains this year and he’s really been leading from the front,” he said.

“He’s been a great leader since stepping into that role and he was really important for helping us get the win there.”
