It’s Members Monday, and it’s time to shine the light on this week’s Members of the Week!

This week’s Members of the Week are Andrew Taylor & Vicky Shaw, nominated by friend Harry Brigham.

“This is a couple but my closest and now my second family. They share my disabled carers pass between them on a matchdays.

“My friends are a lovely couple named Andrew Taylor and Vicky Shaw. I met them through mutual friend and since then they have never judged me on my disability, knowing me only over a year now.

“In terms of what they have done for me through the pandemic, early into the spring lockdown, I lost a close family member so that had affected my mental state of mind following the lockdown as I was slowly becoming more active with life after constant surgery.

“Vicky and Andrew wanted to help me after being on a video call with me and saw me upset and wanted to comfort me by spending time and looking after me. They wanted to cheer me up because I was not in the right place of mind since losing my family member.

“Due to the constant restrictions changing, my life was on and off with social activities or my own job so I was happy then sad which they knew previously my mental health was suffering.

“With all the support, I grew closer with the couple and they become a ‘second family’. To pay my respects to them, I bought them several gifts including two 2005 anniversary shirts, and during the period of pubs being open in the summer and games behind closed doors, I treated them to a night out while Hull FC were playing.

“Following the unexpected year that was 2020, they have been my second family. Vicky and Andrew are the kindest people I will ever meet, and going into 2021, my mental state of mind is a lot more better than 2020 with the ongoing pandemic and loss of a family member. We cannot wait to return to the KCOM Stadium to watch Hull FC again.”

Nominate Your Member of the Week

We are on the lookout for members who have gone the extra mile to support someone during these challenging times.

Perhaps they are one of our amazing nurses caring for Coronavirus patients in hospital. Or they could be helping a local charity, a key-worker, a care home assistant…

Maybe you know somebody who has helped another person with their mental health during this challenging year.

If you know a Hull FC member who has stood out from the rest, you can nominate them to be featured in Members Monday on hullfc.com in the new year!

Last year we featured some of our key-worker heroes. You can check them out here

To nominate a Member of the Week, please email comms@hullfc.com with the following details:

  • Tell us their full name and give us a few details about their job role.
  • Let us know what inspiring work they’ve carried out this year, and tell us why you have nominated them.
  • Attach some photos of them either at work, or supporting the Black & Whites.

We’ll pick out some of the best ones to be featured, so keep an eye out on hullfc.com every Monday!
