Sneyd Delighted With Hull Form

Marc Sneyd previews Hull’s play-off semi-final tie with Wigan Warriors

Marc Sneyd believes Hull FC have come a long way since their Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Wigan Warriors two months ago.

The Black & Whites have lost just twice since their cup meeting with Adrian Lam’s side back in September, and are on a run of four games without defeat ahead of tomorrow’s play-off semi-final clash.

Sneyd played an instrumental role in last week’s victory over Warrington Wolves in the eliminator match, a performance that demonstrated how much progress Hull FC have made in recent weeks.

“From that Wigan game in the cup to where we are now, we’ve come very, very far,” Sneyd said in his pre-match press conference.

“We’re not doing things differently, we’re just doing a lot of the same things better. The cup game was brought up earlier in the week, but only very briefly because that wasn’t a great day for us.

“I’m massively looking forward to it. Big games against Wigan are always tough, but when you come out on the other side of those matches with a win, you feel really good.

“We’ve been concentrating more on ourselves rather than Wigan this week. We know we have to focus on doing our individual jobs first before considering what Wigan are going to throw at us.”

Sneyd played alongside the experienced Carlos Tuimavave in the halves as they combined to help knock Warrington out of the running for the Grand Final last week.

Ahead of the prospect of lining up alongside Tuimavave in the pivots once again tomorrow, Sneyd was waxing lyrical about the Samoan international.

“Carlos is a threat wherever he plays. You get him on the field and things happen,” Sneyd said.

“He’s a really laid back character and he’s really laid back on the ball, too. To throw him in at six in such a big game, I don’t think Lasty even had a second thought about that one.

“It’s quite an easy solution when you have somebody like him in the team.”

On the possibility of reaching the Grand Final for the first time in his career, Sneyd said: “Doing the Challenge Cup is amazing, but the Grand Final is the one I’ve never done. I’ve never even been to one, so it’s something I really want to tick off.”
