The Hull FC Community Foundation’s Partner Schools Project is managing to continue its fantastic work despite the ongoing national lockdown.
Our coaches continue to visit primary schools across the city with the aim of injecting a little bit of fun and joy into school days which are now heavily affected by the impact of Covid-19.
While students can’t enjoy the company of their fellow pupils like in normal times due to social distancing and strict bubbles, our coaches are ensuring that youngsters still get their much needed fix of physical education in the safest way possible.
Louise Stone, of partner school Mountbatten Primary, said: “I’ve been so impressed with the way coach Bradley has run our after-school clubs recently.
“He knew I had concerns about how we could run it safely based on continual changing guidance from the government. I went out to observe on the afternoon and I was very impressed with the way he had set up an area for each group to meet up in and then a separate area for each group to play in.
“This was easily recognisable by the different coloured cones areas. I know from conversations with the children they are enjoying the activities as well.
“I was then able to feed this info back to our head teacher and say that I had no concerns about us doing everything we could to keep the children safe.”

One of the Hull FC Community Foundation’s most popular projects, the scheme sees pupils receive coaching all-year round from Hull FC Foundation staff.
Schools can choose from a range of engagement packages designed to offer support to Sport and Physical Education within schools that include many added benefits to the school including sports provision, player visits from the first-team squad, stadium tours, memberships, rewards for attendance and much more.
All visits and sessions will be tailored to meet the current government guidelines on social distancing at the time in question, as well as taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of both children and staff.
Through the Partner Schools Sport scheme, the Hull FC Community Foundation offer a programme that will enhance and develop the sports skills of children in schools by delivering a varied menu of activities that allows youngsters to experience different sports and learn new skills.
Each programme that is delivered is specific to each individual school. This means the school can tailor-make the sessions, to effectively benefit their students.
The Foundation also deliver staff CPD sessions as part of each programme to help ensure that our delivery is sustainable and so that the teachers build confidence, experience different sports and learn new skills too.
All our staff have a vast amount of experience that supports the development of the whole child and will also support and offer guidance for pupils in their transition from participating in sport at school onto playing for local community clubs or other activity clubs.
The school sports partnership officers all have UKCC Level 2 coaching badges and are multi-skilled and multi-sport trained so they are able to ensure a high quality provision.
