Hull FC have revealed their 2022 Magic Weekend kit, which will be worn by the Black & Whites at next month’s Hull Derby clash at Newcastle’s St James’ Park.

The club have unveiled a retro, third shirt, which is inspired by one of FC’s most popular kit designs of all-time from 30 years ago, having first been worn in the 1991/92 season.

The purple trim, which was a common feature during the 1990s for the Airlie Birds, brings the jersey and accompanying training range to life, as well as incorporating the club’s traditional irregular hoops.

The hoops also feature the words of the club’s anthem, Old Faithful, which are imprinted into fabric of the jersey, as a classy touch to the Airlie Birds’ 90-year-old song from the terraces.

The original jersey was worn by the likes of FC greats Greg Mackey, Lee Jackson, Jon Sharp, Rob Nolan, and Paul Eastwood following on from their Premiership Final success in 1991, with former stars of the era Matt Donkin, Andy Mighty, Paul Harrison and Rob Danby helping launch the new shirt – a delivering a modern twist on a cult favourite design.

The original shirt was worn by the club when former coach Royce Simmons was at the helm in the early 1990s, who was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s earlier this year, alongside several former players.

To help raise awareness of the condition and fundraising efforts, the club will sign and auction all the match worn jerseys from the Magic Weekend clash against Hull KR in July, with the proceeds being donated to Alzheimer’s and Dementia charities

To compliment the new shirts, fans will also enjoy the eye-catching retro styled training range, which includes polos, training tees, shorts, singlets, and jackets, modelled by first-team stars Chris Satae, Joe Lovodua, Ben McNamara, and Carlos Tuimavave.

The kit is once again designed by technical and merchandise partner hummel® and is proudly fronted by main club partners Atropa Pharmacy, with Elite Performance Partners Jacuzzi taking pride of place on the sleeve.

The stunning kit will be debuted at Newcastle’s St James’ Park in July, when Brett Hodgson’s men take on cross-city rivals Hull KR in the first Magic Weekend Hull Derby since 2018.

The Black & Whites are currently leading the way with Magic Weekend ticket sales having sold more than any other club – tickets remain on sale at hullfcshop.com and in store, with 50% discount for 2022 members.

The new shirts and training range are available to buy online now at hullfcshop.com and in-store from tomorrow morning.

Please note, the anthem jacket and half zip are available as pre-order items and will arrive in stock in a few weeks’ time.
