Hull FC will pay tribute to the late, great Steve Prescott MBE with a special Captain’s Run jersey that will be worn by the players throughout 2024.

November marked ten years since the sad passing of the former Hull FC fullback, as well as 25 years since he signed for the Black & Whites.

To commemorate the occasion, the club have launched a limited-edition Captain’s Run jersey as part of their new match day range, in partnership with Ecostrad and Summit Vans, helping to raise awareness for the ongoing work of the Steve Prescott Foundation.

The shirt features the Steve Prescott Foundation logo, as well as a design and colours synonymous with the shirts Steve wore during his time in black and white.

The Captain’s Run jersey was worn by the players for the first time this afternoon, as the squad took part in an open training session in front of 2024 corporate partners at the MKM Stadium.

Steve was diagnosed with a rare form of abdominal cancer in 2006, and he subsequently set up the Steve Prescott Foundation to help raise funds for cancer treatments, which has gone on to raise over £1 million for charity. Such was his dedication to the cause, he was awarded an MBE.

Since his passing in 2013, two of his former clubs, Hull FC and St Helens play for the Steve Prescott Cup each year, with the Black & Whites currently holding the trophy. It currently sits proudly in the club’s St Stephen’s retail store for supporters to see.

The Foundation still runs strongly to this day – you can find out more information about the charity here.

Linzi Prescott, wife of Steve, said: “As a family, we are all incredibly touched by this gesture from Hull FC, who are continuing to raise awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation.

“I absolutely loved my time in Hull when Steve played for the club and coming back to the city is something I always look forward to, because I know we will be given the warmest of welcomes by the Hull FC fans.

“Thanks to the awareness raised by Hull FC, Steve’s legacy still lives on in the city, which makes me really proud.”

As well as the Captain’s Run jersey, Hull FC’s 2024 Warm-Up Range is also now on sale.

Featuring an anthem jacket, a quarter-zip warm-up jacket, a long-sleeve warm-up tee and a short-sleeve warm-up tee, the clean and crisp range will be worn by players during their final preparation on game day.

You can browse the full collection online here, or shop in store at the MKM Stadium and St Stephen’s (top floor, next to Fun Station).
