It’s been a whirlwind two months for the 18-year-old

Born and bred in the city, Logan Moy is living the dream in Hull FC’s first-team squad.

The 2023 Academy Player of the Year has embarked on his first pre-season campaign with the Black & Whites, along with a handful of other youngsters who caught the eye in the club’s Under 18s side.

With the first half of pre-season training out of the way, Moy explains life as a player in Hull FC’s first-team squad and how much he is relishing the opportunity to work hard.

“It’s taken me aback since I moved up to the first-team, but it’s been so enjoyable up to now,” he told hullfc.com.

“Don’t get me wrong, when we were in the Academy, we were all training as hard as we could and giving 110 percent, but now there is an expectation to meet a certain level of performance in the first-team squad – as there should be at this level!

“I want to be able to impress the coaching staff. I’ve got the same goal as every other player in the squad and that’s to be out on the field with the team.

“I’m doing everything I can to improve myself, but I also want to be a good team mate. So I’m helping people out as much as I can. It doesn’t matter if they’re on the opposite team in training, that might help the squad out in the long run. We’re trying to better ourselves every day.”

As demonstrated in the Academy team in 2023, Moy is capable of featuring anywhere throughout the spine.

An energetic player who always plays with a spring in his step, the 18-year-old is always willing to continue developing and learning.

As such, he has revealed how every training session is almost like a school day, and how much information he is absorbing from the Black & Whites’ coaching staff.

“As soon as I came up to train with the first-team, I showed a willingness to do as many personal one-on-one video sessions with the coaching staff to try and help my development as much as possible,” he explained.

“In particular, Grixy [Simon Grix] has been doing a lot of good video reviews with me. And Tony has been great for approaching me during training sessions to tell me which bits I’ve done well and which bits I need to work on.

“They’re constantly on at me, which is a good thing! I’ve taken in so much information already, which is only going to benefit me moving forward and it’s going to play a big part in helping me reach my goal of making my debut.”
