Booking Open For Hull FC’s Festive Junior Camps

Hull FC’s free festive camps are back for juniors this year

Community News

The Hull FC Community Foundation will be running more free festive-season camps for young people across the city of Hull and the East Riding who are in receipt of free school meals.

The Community Foundation have once again received funding for the camps from both the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme – a scheme funded by the Government and delivered by local councils across winter Christmas holidays, providing healthy food and fun activities to children and young people, with free meals available for those on free school meals.

The Hull FC Community Foundation will work with the councils and other partners across the school holidays to provide programmes of coordinated activities to support families and enable children to have fun and stay active while away from the classroom.

The camps are available to those children across the city who receive benefit-related free school meals.

They’re also part of the Black and Whites’ ongoing commitment to helping grow rugby league and develop players for the future, running alongside a host of projects and programmes to engage with, educate and inspire local juniors.

Camps will vary from community club rugby league sessions, girls camps, multi-skill sessions, wheelchair rugby league, with sessions for both primary school aged children, and secondary aged children too.

Camps will take place at a variety of locations across both Hull and the East Riding, at community clubs, youth centres, schools, and club facilities, even venturing out to Bridlington and Withernsea.

The camps are an exciting opportunity to learn and develop skills like meeting new friends, alongside a nutritious meal each day, while taking part in engaging and enriching activities which support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment

Most significantly, the camps are free for children who are in the respect of benefit-related free school meals to attend.

Children who are in receipt of free school meals will also be eligible for a free meal when taking part in the various sessions, as we encourage young people to eat healthily over the holidays, while also developing an understanding of nutrition and food budgeting for families.

Please note, parents may be required to confirm that their child is in receipt of free school meals when booking.

The initiative is funded by the Department for Education, and will be coordinated by the two councils, with the funding in place until 2024.
