The club are delighted to reveal that Hull FC Wheelchair player-coach Mike Swainger has been nominated for the Betfred Super League Wheelchair Coach of the Year.

Swainger led his side through a season of impressive progress, ultimately finishing within touching distance of a first-ever appearance in the end-of-season play-offs.

Highlights included a home win over London Roosters, and an away victory over reigning champions Halifax Panthers, as well as a respectable third placed finish in the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup festival.

Hull’s Wheelchair programme now features over 40 players, thanks in part to Swainger’s support in creating the club’s burgeoning development side.

Swainger was also recognised for his efforts during the season, on the court and way from it, receiving the Martin Merrikin Clubman Award at last week’s Player of the Year Awards.

Tom Coyd of London Roosters, and James Simpson of Leeds Rhinos have also been nominated for the award – it will be awarded for the first time, alongside the Wheelchair Player and Young Wheelchair Player of the Year Awards at the Rugby League Awards Night at Emirates Old Trafford on Tuesday 10th October.
