Adam Swift has been crowned as Hull FC’s Ecostrad Player of the Year for 2023 at tonight’s award ceremony at Connexin Live, brought to you in association with CCT Infotech.

The winger has enjoyed a stellar campaign which has seen him join a highly-esteemed group to have won the club’s prestigious award.

Having joined the Black & Whites ahead of the 2020 season, Swift has enjoyed his finest season to date in 2023, scoring 22 tries in 26 appearances.

The 30-year old, who will depart the club at the end of the current campaign, touched down in nine consecutive games in the second-half of the season, and is also the club’s biggest metre maker this season with over 2,800.

Jake Clifford, Chris Satae, Danny Houghton were all also nominated for the award.

Swift’s endeavors did not go unnoticed by his fellow team mates, also claiming the Paragon Player’s Player of the Year Award.

He also secured the Tucker M&E Try of the Season Award for his spectacular effort against Castleford in July.

After a memorable year in Black & White, it was Jake Clifford who took home the GetExtra Supporters’ Player of the Year, in association with FC Voice – the Aussie pivot has been a key cog for the Airlie Birds this season and produced some moments of magic in the halves.

Davy Litten was the recipient of the Sports Events Services Young Player of the Year Award, in association with the Hull FC Vice Presidents Association – the young full-back, who made his senior debut last season, continued his impressive rise in 2023, playing 14 matches and continuing to develop into one of the club’s brightest young talent.

U18s full-back Logan Moy was named the James Kirkwood Academy Player of the Year Award, in association with Cuban Pete’s – selected by the Academy coaching staff, Moy has enjoyed an impressive season, scoring eight tries in 20 appearances, as well as being selected for the Yorkshire Academy.

Cam Scott picked up the Johnny Whiteley Community Player of the Year Award, in association with Cladding King; Scott has dedicated his spare time in 2023 to coaching his local side Queensbury to a spot in the play-offs, as well as arranging a 171 mile bike ride next month to raise funds for the Sue Ryder hospice – a cause close to Cam’s heart after losing both his auntie and uncle to cancer recently.

The 24-year old continues to raise awareness of being an elite athlete with diabetes, including interviews in the national press, while taking part in more than his fair share of club promos despite living in West Yorkshire.

Jade Key claimed the Rowe Freight Women’s Player of the Year, with the co-captain putting her leadership and experience to strong use in 2023 by helping guide a youthful squad to Betfred Women’s Championship survival in a year of positive development for the side.

The club presented awards to their Wheelchair and Disability players for the first time at the ceremony, with Tristan Norfolk winning the Outdoor Living Wheelchair Player of the Year award – part of the squad for a number of years, Norfolk was selected for England during this season and is aiming to feature in the end of season internationals, while playing an integral role in getting the FC side to within eighty minutes of a play-off spot with one game remaining.

After what has been a strong season for the Wheelchair side, Head Coach and the Hull FC Community Foundation’s Head of Inclusion Mike Swainger won the Martin Merrekin Clubman Award, in association with Arcmaster – a key member of staff for over 10 years, Swainger has helped grow and develop both the Wheelchair pathways and the club’s disabled education programmes with great success over the past 12 months.

The pathway now features over 40 players, with the side also finishing a respectable third in the Wheelchair Challenge Cup competition, thanks in part of Swainger’s role as player-coach.

Meanwhile LDSL player Joshua Woods won the Geddes Boys Disability Player of the Year Award for his successes within the side, including showing some fine leadership skills despite being the third youngest player in the team.

The club’s Academy & Leadership Mentor Dave Dosdale was named as the Tucker M&E Volunteer of the Year, having played an influential role in mentoring the club’s young players in their development, while providing the best possible welfare care too – Dave juggles this with being a full-time inspector with Humberside Police.

There were also tributes on the night to the club’s departing players and staff, including club icons Jamie Shaul and Scott Taylor, as well as assistant coach Gareth Ellis.
