A Message From Paul Bunting

A message from Paul Bunting…

Club News

The family of newly inducted Hall of Fame member Arthur Bunting unfortunately couldn’t be with us at the Bonus Arena on Wednesday evening.

The former Black & White head coach was posthumously added to the illustrious group, alongside Gareth Ellis, Kirk Yeaman, and Jack Harrison VC MC.

Arthur’s son, Paul, who is currently in the South Pacific, gave the club a message on behalf of the Bunting family…

Firstly, I would like to thank Adam, James and the selection panel for inducting my father into the Hall of Fame – he would be very humbled. His time at Hull FC was very special for us, the club became our family.

Between 1978 and 1985 everything our family did was focused around the club, it gave us some very special memories. The ex-players from that time will tell you it was one big family, and it’s pleasing to see the efforts and progress the club is making now to try and recreate that.

My dad put everything into the club, and felt the atmosphere off the field needed to match the camaraderie and team spirit on it, and I think it worked. He adored the club and the fans, especially the threepenny standers.

What right did a man who spent fifteen years on the dark side of the city have to be adored in the way he was by the most feared stand in Rugby League?

If he was there tonight, he would be extremely honoured by this accolade, just as we are as his family. But for my dad, it was never about the honours or the titles, they all came second to the family – not just his own but his family at the club.

So, from somewhere between Tonga and New Zealand, I would like to say a huge thank you once again and congratulations to Gareth Ellis, Kirk Yeaman, and those associated with Jack Harrison VC MC who have also been inducted.

Paul, and the Bunting family.
