Hull FC Women will travel to South Yorkshire on Sunday to face newly promoted Sheffield Eagles Women in their first action of 2023.

The Women are busy preparing for the new season in the Betfred Women’s Championship, with preparations set to step up this weekend.

Hull FC Women’s 2022 Season:

Hull FC found form towards the end of the last Championship season as they claimed convincing wins against both Dewsbury Moor Ladies and Widnes Vikings Women.

The hard work put in by this team, which was highlighted by these victories, became even more apparent as co-captain Ruby Magson-Parkin was selected for the England Community Lions squad.

On Hull FC Women’s 2022 season, Magson-Parkin said: “We restructured and provided a new platform for existing and new players and used the season to find our feet in a lot of areas.”

The youth setup also proved to be a major success as Hull FC’S U14s and U16s Girls teams, who both claimed their respective league titles, with the latter going undefeated throughout the season.

The team is looking forward to showcasing the successes of the girls sides as co-captain Jade Key said: “We have brought a lot of youth through the system from our under 16’s team and they have provided a lot of strength to our team.”

Sheffield Eagles’ Women’s 2022 Season:

Sheffield Eagles managed to claim promotion to the Women’s Championship after comfortably defeating Illingworth in last year’s League One final.

This came just months after the reformation of the clubs women’s team – the strength of the Sheffield team was shown throughout the season, losing only one game all season.

Sheffield’s successes in 2022 were noted by Hull FC coach Ryan Hill who said: “They put their best foot forward last year and showed what they are capable of and how much of a threat they can be to teams in 2023.”

The Match:

Both sides will look to weigh up their opponents being the first time they have faced each other before heading into the Championship this season.

The game will also help both sides prepare for the 2023 campaign and will be the first chance for the players to get some much needed minutes under their belt.

Hull FC co-captain Abby Price also hopes that Hull FC’s new and returning players relish in this new challenge as “you can only ever play your best as a player and as a team if you are enjoying it.”

The match will take place at Sheffield’s Olympic Legacy Park at 12:30pm, with supporters encouraged to come and watch the action ahead of the men’s fixture at 3.00pm.
