The club is delighted to announce that the Hull FC Community Foundation has been shortlisted for a HSJ Partnership Award, recognising their outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS.

The Community Foundation, in partnership with Hull Health and Care Partnership and Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust, has been nominated in the ‘Best Not for Profit Working in Partnership with the NHS’ category, thanks to the success of the Teaming Up For Health project.

Hull’s pioneering health and wellbeing programme brings together rival rugby clubs and the local NHS. The award recognises Hull FC Foundation and Hull KR Foundation for their outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS.

Teaming Up For Health uses the power of rugby to connect with people in Hull and equip them with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to lead healthier lives.

Now in its fifth year, the foundation teams run after-school clubs for primary school children, fitness and emotional wellbeing programmes for adults and social sessions for older adults, aiming to tackle isolation and keep people active in older age.

The Teaming Up For Health project has been selected based on the diligence, ambition, and the positive impact that the project has had on both practitioners and patients within the health care industry.

Teaming Up for Health focuses on building proactive partnerships with the local voluntary sector and testing a range of health interventions concentrated on communities located in areas of high deprivation.

The partnership is not just about promoting rugby league participation, but soughts to use the brands of two of the City’s professional clubs along with their players, stadia, and community teams to act as a catalyst to engage local people in quality interventions that supported improved health and wellbeing outcomes.

Teaming Up For Health features several successful projects, including;

Energise Club – an after-school club for primary school children designed to improve their health and fitness with fun games and learning activities;

Unite & Unite Fitness – empowering women living in Hull to come together and participate in activities that support their physical and mental wellbeing;

Our Best Years – offering inclusive opportunities for fans to meet new people, make friends and participate in activities which promotes better health and social outcomes;

Match Fit – a weekly programme for men aged 35 and over, focused on helping enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.

All sessions delivered through the Teaming Up For Health Programme are completely free of charge. Find out about how you could get involved online at www.hullfcfoundation.co.uk/

The HSJ Partnership Awards recognise and honour the most effective partnerships, innovative projects and collaborations in the UK health system. The prestigious award programme, now in its sixth year, is not just a celebration of success stories but also a platform to shape the future of our new integrated health and care system.

The judging panel comprised a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from a pool of brilliant applications, is a mark of real achievement for the Teaming up for Health Programme.

The project has been selected based on the diligence, ambition, and the positive impact that it has had on both practitioners and patients within the health care industry.

Head of the Hull FC Community Foundation, James Prices, said: “Being shortlisted for a HSJ Partnership Award has given our team further confidence in our project and has ensured that our hard work is nationally recognised and the team’s efforts and relentless work is recognised.”

Erica Daley, Hull Place Director, Hull Health and Care Partnership, said: “I’m delighted that the teams have been nominated for this award.

“This project is an excellent example of how we work innovatively in Hull in partnership with our voluntary sector to improve the health and wellbeing of people in our city. Congratulations to everyone who is involved in delivering this life-changing programme.”
