The Hull FC Community Foundation is helping local people through the cost of living crisis by offering a wide range of free activities for people of all ages.

With the sky-rocketing cost of living, the Hull FC Community Foundation is committed to providing a whole host of free activities for people from all walks of life, helping keep people fit and in a positive state of mind.

Energise Club, an after-school club for children aged between 5-11 years of age, has proven to be one of the most popular projects over the last twelve months. This is a free project that offers kids the chance to come and take part in some fun activities to raise physical fitness, whilst youngsters are also taught how to cook on a budget, essential information at a time of financial difficulty for the nation. At the sessions, staff are on hand to give out free snacks to children.

Two other health & wellbeing sessions that are run for free are Match Fit and Unite Fitness, which both aim to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of local men and women. Both offer an alternative to purchasing a gym membership, saving local men and women a heap of cash with multiple sessions run throughout the week.

The Community Foundation also works in partnership with Age UK to deliver the ‘Our Best Years’ project, with multiple sessions taking place at various locations across the city every week.

Our Best Years is part of the Teaming Up For Health partnership between Hull FC, Hull KR and the NHS Hull HCP, aiming to unite all rugby league supporters from the city, no matter which team they support!

The free sessions offer a chance for participants to relax and chat, often reminiscing on their favourite memories, whilst also having the chance to play some fun games, such as bingo and boccia.

The Set Restart project, which operates on the Orchard Park estate, has a big focus on empowering residents. It is designed to support members of the community to achieve outcomes associated with better physical health, mental wellbeing, and education and employability.

A range of free-to-attend sessions take place every week, boosting people’s wellbeing, whilst also helping to increase employability rates.

In a bid to become more accessible, Hull FC’s LDSL, PDRL and Wheelchair teams are all free to be a part of!

For children and young adults that suffer with disabilities and learning difficulties, a weekly sensory session provides the opportunity to come along and engage with a range of lights and equipment to create a feeling of relaxation. This too is free to attend.

Rugby Minis is yet another of the Community Foundation’s free projects. This is where toddlers can come along and take their very first rugby steps, where our coaching staff are on hand to teach some of the core skills. This also provides young children the chance of making new friends.
