Hull FC head coach Brett Hodgson has provided an injury update on several members of his squad.
The Black & Whites take on Wakefield Trinity this evening in their Betfred Super League Round 24 clash, with four games remaining in the regular season.
However, Hodgson has confirmed that Jack Walker has played his last game this season having suffered an injury in Sunday’s defeat to St Helens.
“Jack has picked up a substantial injury,” Hodgson said.
“He has a syndesmosis injury which requires an operation. I’m gutted for him; he had a baby girl on Wednesday so it’s a really bittersweet time for him. He has played his last game for us this season.”
On Darnell McIntosh, Hodgson explained that the winger had sustained a foot injury in Sunday’s match, but that a time scale for his recovery is not in place at this stage.
“We’ll have to wait until the swelling has gone down on both injuries and they’ve seen specialists to work out a recovery time for both Jack and Darnell,” Hodsgon said.
The duo join long-term absentees Carlos Tuimavave (Achilles), Andre Savelio (knee) and Joe Cator (Achilles) on the sidelines.
Hodgson also confirmed a season-ending injury for winger Adam Swift, who recently underwent an operation on a broken leg, while Jack Brown is also unlikely to feature again in 2022.
The prop will see a specialist in the coming weeks to determine whether surgery is needed on his shoulder injury, which was sustained against Huddersfield a fortnight ago.
Elsewhere on the squad, Hodgson also provided an update on centres Josh Griffin and Cameron Scott, with the latter likely to return to be in contention to return to action next week.
“Josh Griffin is still unable to hit high speed at this stage so we’re unsure as to how much longer his recovery is going to take.
“Cam Scott is progressing nicely – with a best case scenario, he may feature again next weekend with the two games in quick succession.”
Hull are also without suspended duo Jake Connor and Kane Evans for this evening’s fixture, leaving the Black & Whites with some eleven players sidelined.
FC are boosted though by the return of Ben McNamara and Manu Ma’u to the squad after recovering from injury, as well as Ligi Sao from his three match suspension.
