Five members of the Hull FC U16s Girls side have been selected for the Yorkshire Girls Talent Hub following an impressive first-half of the 2022 season.

The regional hubs are the first steps on the road of the England performance pathway, with the players’ selection bringing yet more positive news for the club’s Centre of Excellence pathway.

Evie Sexton, Bethan Candlin, Charlotte Lawson, Poppy Howdle, and Isabelle Brown have all been selected following promising performances in the first-half of the 2022 season.

Hull FC’s U16s Girls remain unbeaten after six games, topping the table having won all of their matches so far, and find themselves some six points clear at the top of the U16s East Division Group 2 having scored 224 points and conceded just 30.

Such has been their success that several players have made the step up to the Women’s side on several occasions, including six members of the team being involved in the inaugural Hull Derby clash against Hull KR back in May, while seven members of the twelve player squad that participated in the RFL Women’s 9s competition in Warrington recently were U16s.

The talent hubs are set up across the Yorkshire and Lancashire regions, and have been designed for players who are identified to have the potential to excel through the England Performance Pathway.

The players will embark on five weeks of training, which culminates in fixtures against other regional hubs.

Hull FC’s U16s Girls captain, Bethan Candlin, said: ” am really proud to have been selected to represent Yorkshire.

“This is an amazing opportunity and a chance for me and the others to continue improving and developing as Rugby League players.”

Female Pathways Manager, Jack Coates, added: “We are enormously proud of all the girls that have been chosen to represent the club in this year’s Central Yorkshire Talent Hub.

“This is the first step on the female performance pathway and again goes to highlight the positive strides we are making within the Centre of Excellence, and our women and girls teams in particular.”
