Michael Shenton has named an 18-man squad for tomorrow’s Hull FC Reserves clash with Newcastle Thunder Reserves at the University of Hull (1.00pm kick-off).
The Reserves battled valiantly against an experienced Warrington Wolves outfit last time out a fortnight ago, but ultimately went down 36-16 in that game.
Nonetheless, the Reserves will be looking to make it a third win from five at the start of the Reserves Championship season when a winless Newcastle side come to town tomorrow.
Shenton has made a number of changes to the side that faced Warrington two weeks ago, with five key players selected to represent Yorkshire Academy against Lancashire in Widnes on Sunday (Denive Balmforth, Sully Medforth, Matty Laidlaw, Lewis Martin, Manoa Wacokecoke).
Davy Litten, Marcus Walker and Jacob Hookem, who have all featured recently for Whitehaven in the Betfred Championship on loan, are included in Shenton’s 18-man squad to face the North East side.
Leon Stewart scored a hat-trick to help England Universities onto a convincing win over the Prison Service in the RFL President’s Cup in Sheffield on Wednesday night. He too will be included at the University of Hull tomorrow.
Alfie Oldridge made his Academy debut and scored four tries in a 48-16 thumping of Huddersfield Giants Under 18s on Sunday. He is now set to make his Reserves debut tomorrow.
Sam Dulson could also get his first action for some time since recovering from injury.
