Hull FC will host the second Learning Disability Super League festival of the season on Sunday afternoon – part of a bumper schedule of action as Hull&Proud Week kicks off this weekend!

Following the success of last month’s Community Integrated Care LDSL festival in Warrington, the teams return for another round of action this weekend at the University of Hull, with the club set to host the second festival of the year as we kickstart a busy Hull&Proud Week.

Chris Godfrey, the RFL Social & Inclusion Manager, said: “We are looking forward to another great weekend of inclusive activity all based in Hull. Following the Wheelchair Challenge Cup Festival on Saturday, Sunday will see Hull FC host the next Community Integrated Cares LDSL Festival.

“Over 300 disabled players, with a passion for Rugby League, are to play and compete under the two separate banners of Wheelchair and Learning Disability Rugby League.”

It will be the first Learning Disability Super League festival hosted by Hull FC since the club got involved back in 2019, and another huge step for the club on their LDSL journey – with nine participants at our first session, but now have 26 regulars donning the Black & White jersey.

Chris Godfrey also noted the strides being made at Hull FC along with Community Integrated Care: “This stellar weekend marks the return of the Community Integrated Care LDSL to East Yorkshire after a long break for the sport. But the continued ongoing work by Hull FC and Community Integrated Care in the region can be seen by the continued growth of the Hull FC LDRL team.

“Rugby League is a sport for all and that is a fact that is being celebrated this weekend through the continued fantastic work by all involved.”

16 teams will take to the pitch from the nine community foundations involved this weekend, which include: Hull FC, Wakefield Trinity, Salford Red Devils, Hull KR, Barrow Raiders, Leigh Centurions, York City Knights, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers.

The festival kicks off at 13:00 this Sunday at the University of Hull, with the activities set to be wrapped up by 16:00.
