Hull FC Academy Manager Sasch Brook is taking part in this year’s Endure 24 Ultra Marathon at Bramham Park to raise funds for the City of Hull & District Rugby League, helping enhance youth development in the area.

Sasch is one of the longest-serving member of staff at Hull FC and he is widely revered throughout the rugby league community beyond the city thanks to his dedication and commitment to serving the sport and the community game over the course of the last two decades.

He joined the club in 1999, and having undertaken several roles throughout the years, he is now the club’s Academy Manager.

Sasch formerly played rugby league in his spare time, making an incredible 448 appearances for National Conference League side Oulton Raiders.

Since retiring from playing rugby league, he has made running his primary pastime away from work with the Black & Whites, taking part in a series of marathons.

But he will be going one step further than completing a marathon this summer. Instead, he will be running in this year’s Endure 24 Ultra Marathon, which is run over 24 hours at Bramham Park in Wetherby.

Sasch has run ultra marathons many times before, including two ultra 24 hour marathons in 2021, so he is well versed in long-distance running over a prolonged period of time. But this time, he is raising money for the City of Hull & District Rugby League to enhance youth development in the region.

Previously, in 2017, Sasch ran at the WillPower Rugby League Fest in support of his young nephew, raising a total of £11,000 for Candlelighters, a charity in Yorkshire which looks after young children suffering with cancer.

Sasch is now hoping to raise a similar sum of money for the City of Hull & District Rugby League, having already passed the £500 mark within just a few days of setting up his JustGiving page.

Speaking to hullfc.com, he said: “I have enjoyed the challenge of long distance ultra trail running over the past few years and it adds real purpose in my life, not just in my personal life with my own family but also in the workplace with my full time career working in professional rugby league.

“The game of rugby league has given me everything in my adult life through different scenarios, something which I’m forever grateful for.

“I have had a passion for youth rugby league for decades now and to raise funds for the City of Hull & District Rugby League is a key focus of mine for this upcoming event.”
