Brett Hodgson is hopeful that Scott Taylor will make his first appearance of the season against Catalans Dragons this Sunday.

The powerful prop forward saw his 2021 campaign frustratingly cut short through injury. And despite looking in phenomenal shape throughout pre-season, Taylor suffered another setback when he injured his foot in a training exercise.

But following a rehabilitation programme, Hodgson is confident that Taylor will be able to face Catalans at the MKM Stadium this weekend.

There is also an update on the three players who suffered injuries in the Good Friday fixture against Hull KR last week.

Andre Savelio’s season has come to a premature end after the second-row sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury at Craven Park, joining Joe Cator (Achilles) on the sidelines for the remainder of 2022.

Meanwhile, Josh Griffin (ankle) and Adam Swift (foot) are expected to miss up to four weeks for the Black & Whites.

Cameron Scott updated his social media followers that he had started on-field running again this week, after sustaining an ankle injury in Round 3. Progressing well in his recovery, there are hopes that the 22-year-old will be able to return in mid-May.

The club’s medical staff are also keeping tabs on Ben McNamara, who is struggling with a back problem. His progress will be monitored on a week-to-week basis to determine when the young halfback will be able to return to action.

Connor Wynne failed his head assessment after a knock in Monday’s win over Warrington Wolves, so he will be unavailable for selection for this week’s match.

Academy forward Nick Staveley (hamstring) is expected to return in approximately four weeks, whilst fellow youth player Charlie Severs (jaw) is making good progress and could make a comeback within 6-8 weeks.
