This week we feature marathon runner Mark Williamson on Members Monday.

Fans News

On this week’s Members Monday, we feature Mark Williamson, who recently completed the London Marathon in a Hull FC jersey, setting the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon time in a full rugby kit.

Mark, who lives in Hornsea and supports the Black & Whites, had battled Covid-19 just a month earlier before breaking the record by ten minutes with a time of three hours and five minutes.

He ran the marathon wearing a full Hull FC jersey, with a gum-shield and and a ball under his arm, and was awarded his official certificate as he crossed the finish line on The Mall.

Last month’s London Marathon was Mark’s 50th marathon run, having completed his first effort in the capital back in 2006 when he raised money for the Children’s Heart Unit, dressed as their mascot.

He also holds two other records which feature in the Guinness Book of World Records, including fastest marathon in a telephone box, which he completed during the Hull Marathon in 2017, and fastest marathon in a four person costume the following year, along with three friends dressed as a caterpillar.

Mark runs out of the Hornsea Harriers Club in East Yorkshire.

The club would like to congratulate Mark on his superb efforts!
