Team News

Hull were forced into two changes going into the match, with Marc Sneyd (bicep) and Mahe Fonua (ankle) dropping out of contention.

The pair were replaced by Josh Bowden, and young half-back Jacob Hookem who came into the squad on the interchange bench to make his competitive club debut.

The Match

Wakefield opened the scoring after three minutes when a wide ball found Innes Senior on the edge of the field of play, who had the strength to stay away from the whitewash and dive over for the first score of the match.

Trinity had a second try ten minutes later when Mason Lino’s high kick was patted back into the arms of James Batchelor by an airborne Liam Kay, with the back-rower scoring under the sticks.

FC’s first real chance of the game came two minutes later, however a wide ball to Bureta Faraimo, who would have had a walk-in to the Wakefield line, was fumbled.

A poor opening quarter saw Kelepi Tanginoa get Wakefield’s third as he had the pace to get on the end of a Mason Lino grubber.

Matters got worse for Hull when former Black & White Jacob Miller went over on the 25 minute mark, while Fifita got try number five picking up a loose ball from 20 metres out to stroll in.

Hampshire added number six before the break.

Half-Time: Wakefield 34-0 Hull FC

Hull managed to hold out the hosts for the third-quarter of the game, and managed their first try on the hour mark when Mitieli Vulikijapani leaped high to collect a Jake Connor kick and score. Connor was on target with the boot.

The Black & Whites managed a second when Jake Connor got on the end of a delicate Jordan Lane grubber into the in-goal, before converting his own try.

Liam Kay scored the final try of the game in the closing seconds.
