Injury Update: Connor In Contention

Brett Hodgson has issued an injury update ahead of Saturday’s Derby Day clash.

Brett Hodgson has confirmed that Hull FC will welcome back several key players for Saturday’s Hull Derby against Hull Kingston Rovers at the MKM Stadium.

Following Covid isolations, suspensions, and an extensive injury list in recent weeks, the Airlie Birds have been unable to name a 21-man squad for their previous four matches.

Hull named four academy players in their 19-man squad to face Catalans Dragons on Friday in the South of France, with 19-year old Marcus Walker making his professional debut; in total, Hodgson was without 13 senior players going into the match.

However, the Black & Whites have been given a huge boost going into the clash against Hull Kingston Rovers, with several key names back in contention and set to feature, including star full-back Jake Connor.

The 26-year old penned a new two-year deal with the club yesterday, and is expected to return to action on Saturday against the Robins having recovered from a knee injury while representing the Combined Nations All Stars in June.

“It’s great to have Jake back in contention for this game. He has a few boxes to tick towards the back end of the week, but I have confidence in him that he’ll feature in the game.

“His contract extension is fantastic news for the club, and for the fans who love him so much.”

Elsewhere in the squad, Hodgson confirmed that those affected by Covid in recent weeks will be available for selection if fit enough to play, whilst Andre Savelio, Jordan Johnstone and Connor Wynne all return from suspension.

Challenge Cup winner Jamie Shaul could also be in line to make his long awaited return from injury, having not featured since last October.

Long-term absentees Josh Griffin, Masi Matongo, and Harvey Barron remain unavailable as they continue their recovery from their respective injuries.

Tickets for the #DerbyDay clash are selling fast, with only limited tickets now available in several sections of the MKM Stadium – the East Stand is now almost fully single seats only.

Tickets remain available online by clicking here, as well as over the phone by calling 01482 505600, and from the MKM Stadium ticket zone. Unreserved tickets for the South Stand are also available from all three of our club retail stores.
