Hull FC will auction off Chris Satae’s playing jersey from Saturday’s clash against Salford, with all proceeds being donated to the Mose Masoe Foundation.

This weekend’s round of Betfred Super League fixtures are being played in support of Mose Masoe and the Mose Masoe Foundation, the former St Helens and Hull Kingston Rovers forward who suffered a career-ending and life-changing spinal injury in 2020.

The Mose Masoe Foundation has been launched to raise funds to help relieve the financial and mental hardship of players who suffer spinal injuries affecting their welfare and quality of life, with the former Samoan international set to be the first beneficiary.

It will firstly support him through helping cover the costs of things such as transport, home adaptations, ongoing rehabilitation, care and support.

The Black & Whites will play their part in supporting Masoe this weekend by auctioning the playing jersey worn by fellow forward Chris Satae – Satae wears the number ten shirt for the Black & Whites, just as Masoe did for the Robins.

The alternate jersey will be signed by the entire Black & White first team squad, and be auctioned on the club’s eBay channel next Tuesday.

The auction will be live for a week, with all proceeds being donated to the Mose Masoe Foundation.

Other shirts being auctioned include jerseys from some of Masoe’s former teammates, including a 2020 away jersey worn by Adam Swift, who played in the 2014 Grand Final winning side with the prop, as well as shirts from former Hull FC players Jez Litten (2018 home), Jordan Abdull (2015 heritage), and Dean Hadley (2019 home), all of whom played with Masoe following their moves to Hull Kingston Rovers.

Meanwhile, fans can continue to donate to the Mose Masoe Foundation by purchasing ‘virtual tickets’ for this weekend’s games.

Fans can choose to donate either £5, £10, £15, or £20.

The virtual tickets will be a donation only, as a gesture of solidarity within the Rugby League community, meaning a Sky Sports subscription is still required to watch the games as normal.

It is hoped the initial fundraising campaign will raise enough money to be able to help Mose, his partner Carissa and their three young children, daughters Evie-Rose and Marlowe and baby son Lui, whilst they are living in the UK and when they return home to Australia.
