Josh Griffin has picked out some of his favourite Hull FC memories as his 100th appearance for the club beckons this weekend.

The 30-year-old will reach a century of appearances in Black & White should he feature against former club Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

Signed from Salford Red Devils ahead of the 2017 season, Griffin has since become a part of the furniture at the KCOM Stadium.

Picking out his favourite memory from the 99 games he has played in for the club so far, he said: “The obvious one that stands out for me is the Challenge Cup Final in 2017.

“When I came to the club, I wanted to play in those big games. So to win that competition less than a year after I joined the club was a huge achievement.

“I also enjoyed the opportunity to go down to Australia and represent Hull FC and Super League down there – not many teams from England get the chance to do that.

Discussing his relationship with the Old Faithful, Griffin joked: “I played my part in helping relegate Hull Kingston Rovers just before I came to the club, so I like to think I got off on the right foot with the Hull fans!

“I’ve always left 100% out on the field. I wouldn’t necessarily say I am the flashiest of players, but something I take great pride in is the effort I always put in.

“Doing the hard work and taking in the hard carries when the game is getting tough and ugly, that goes a long way towards getting the fans in your corner, I suppose.”

Before Griffin joined the Black & Whites, he had moved around several clubs, with Huddersfield, Castleford, Wakefield, Batley and Salford all on his CV.

But since 2017, the centre has been a mainstay in the team at the KCOM Stadium and he even went on to win the club’s Player of the Year award in 2019.

After taking some time to adjust to his new surroundings in East Yorkshire, Griffin says he is nicely settled here now after maturing as an individual.

“The first couple of seasons were tougher with the travelling I did, but since I have moved over the to the local area, these last couple of years have been really enjoyable.

“I’m round my family more now and I can spend more time with my son and I would definitely say I am enjoying my time here even more now than I was in my first couple of seasons.”

“I’d like to think I am going to be staying around for a while longer, too.”
