Hull FC coach Andy Last has confirmed he is to leave the Black & Whites to take up a new role elsewhere in Super League.

The long serving coach recently stepped down from his position within the first-team, having been interim head coach, assistant coach and head of youth during his time at the club.

However, after positive discussions about an integral role in the club’s coaching structure, as well as taking time to weigh up other opportunities, Last has decided to bring an end to his time with Hull FC and begin a new chapter in his career elsewhere.

Speaking to hullfc.com, Last said: “I have been privileged to enjoy 23 years of fantastic memories from playing through to coaching, making many friendships which will last a lifetime.

“I’m very grateful to everyone who has had an influence on my career to date throughout my time at Hull FC and I’m excited about gaining new experiences away from the club.

“I’d like to thank the fans and members for making so many moments memorable ones and I wish the club the best of success in the future.”

Paying tribute to Last, Hull FC Chairman, Adam Pearson said: “Andy has been the model professional at our club for over 20 years and we are grateful for his fantastic service to Hull FC.

“He is held in the highest regard by everyone here and we were eager for him to stay, so much so that we tailored a role to his skill set that we feel there was no-one better than Andy to undertake.

“However, we appreciate the stage Andy is at in his career and understand the reasons for his decision which he has thought long and hard about and he leaves with our blessing and very best wishes for the future.

“Andy and his family will always be welcome back at the club in the future.”
