The Hull FC Community Foundation’s Touch Rugby League sessions returns next Monday for their autumn competition.

The sessions are extremely popular with supporters and local amateur clubs alike throughout the year.

Touch RL is a minimal contact offer for fitness and social benefits. This offer is open to any aged player, with any fitness level or sporting ability. The main difference between Touch RL and the traditional sport is that tackles are made by a touch to the body of the ball carrier, their clothing, or the rugby ball itself.

Beginning on Monday 5th October 2020 and running every Monday for 11 weeks until Monday 14th December 2020, Autumn Touch RL games will kick off at either 7:15pm or 8:15pm with fixture details to be confirmed in due course.

The weekly sessions will take place at the Sirius Academy West, Pickering Road Entrance (HU4 7AB), on their outdoor floodlit 4G pitch, with parking available in Hull FC Centre of Excellence and/or on Pickering Road.

Teams are charged just £20 per week to play, with a maximum of 10 players per team (6-a-side games with a maximum of 4 substitutes)

Making sure we abide with the Government and the RFL’s ‘return to play’ guidance and support for COVID-19, each team will play one league fixture each week with games being 40 minutes long – 20 minutes each half.

Each team will play each other once, before the league will culminate in a Finals Night in December where the top placed team will receive a fully signed 2020 Hull FC playing shirt.

Richard Tate, the Hull FC Foundation’s Head of Sport, Health & Wellbeing, commented on the return of the popular programme: “We are all currently in truly unprecedented times, but we are a resilient sport and really pride ourselves on working hard to overcome challenges – this is probably our biggest one yet.

“That said, we are all in this together and through the concepts of Touch RL and Tag RL lets look forward to tackling this challenge together and get back out there, ball in hand and enjoying our rugby league!”

Ten teams have already registered for the Autumn Touch RL competition and unfortunately we cannot accommodate anymore at this time.
