For the next few weeks, we will be shining the spotlight on some of the members of staff keeping the club running behind-the-scenes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A small but hard-working team of staff are currently doing their bit to keep the club running as smoothly as possible while no games are taking place, including our Hull FC Community Foundation’s Head of Education Ryan Langton.

Ryan, who also plays for Coventry Bears, leads our  Hull FC Sports College pupils through their courses at the Bonus Youth Performance Centre in normal times, but it continuing to do his part supporting the students whilst working from home.

Speaking to hullfc.com, Langton said “Currently I’m checking in with all our students on an individual bases ensuring they’re progressing through their academic studies as well as checking their personal well being.

“A lot of our students are aspiring athletes so I am assisting with diets and training programs too.

“All our learners have been informed that any issues they may have from academic to having food on the table we are able to help. As a 16-18 year old it is sometimes very difficult to open up about your problems to family so having someone like myself who can relate to their problems and become a friendly supportive figure in their lives I feel is really important.”

Ryan added: “Recruitment is going well for next year too with limited places left for September now really is the time to get your place confirmed.

“I am really proud to be able to continue to represent the club and give our students the best possible opportunities to progress both academically and physically.”
