Why study sport?

If your passion is sport and exercise, our courses can help you develop these passions into a career. Our tutors are experts in their field and will help you develop your own performance and coaching abilities, so you can benefit from industry experience and employer partnership. By choosing a sports course at Hull FC College, you can benefit from our strong links with Hull FC Foundation, Hull FC Academy and Hull FC Reserves, as both a potential player pathway and work experience opportunities.

What can you study?

We offer a number of courses that can help get you on your way to a career in sport. The routes will depend of your predicted or current GCSE grades. Please use our guide below to help understand which level you need to apply for:

  • If you have or are predicted to achieve less than 5 GCSE’s at grade four or below:

    Sport – Level 2:
    This is a one-year course made of seven units. The topics studied throughout this year include Sports Coaching, Anatomy and Physiology and Sports Nutrition.
  • Typically, if you have or are predicted 5 GCSE’s at grade four or above:Sport – Level 3: This is a two-year course made up of 18 units and a work experience module. The topics studied within this course include Applied Strength and Conditioning, Physiology of Fitness and Practical Team Sports.

Please note, due to the ongoing uncertainty with GCSE results, all applicants will be offered an unconditional place at the Sports College for the 2020/21 academic year.

Where can I progress?

Employment: The careers options in the industry are wide spread, some careers include personal training, nutritionists, gym instructing, sports therapists, sports coach or sports scientist.

Education: We offer a bespoke Higher National Diploma in Sports Coaching. This course bridges the gap between College and University.

Excellence: Hull FC College students become the first point of call for recruitment for Hull FC Academy and Hull FC Reserves, with strong links to Championship and League 1.

Games Programme

Students will represent the Hull FC Foundation in the National Premier Division, Yorkshire Division 1 and the National Cup. Students will compete against other development academies such as Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos, Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity.

Training

Training takes place over four or five working college day, whilst there includes a weekly fixture.
