Hull FC’s Women’s side were unable to clinch a third straight win as they fell short against convincing second-placed Dewsbury on Sunday afternoon.

After back-to-back wins against Wakefield and Widnes, high-flying Dewsbury proved too tough a match for the Black & Whites with a convincing win.

Squad News

Hull were boosted with the return of co-captain Ruby Magson for the away trip – the match was the first of the season to feature all three co-captains.

FC also welcomed Lisa Box from Super League side Castleford Tigers into the starting line-up for her first game for the club.

However Hull, who still find themselves in the midst of an injury crisis, were only able to name sixteen players for the match.

The Match

The game started well for the visitors as they had the first convincing chance of the game with youngster Charlie Lawson making a strong solo effort before being tackled into touch just metres from the line.

Hull remained firm in defence for the opening quarter of the match as despite repeat sets on the FC line, Dewsbury were unable to score on numerous occasions.

However, it was Dewsbury’s Isabella Naylor who opened the scoring after twenty minutes after errors and penalties cost the visitors.

Dewsbury capitalised on further mistakes to see their lead extended to 14 going into half-time as Cheryl Foudji and Ruby Enright crossed over the line.

Hull ended the half with 12 players on the field after Chloe James was sin-binned with just four minutes left of the half.

Half-Time: Dewsbury Moor 14-0 Hull FC

Hull responded well in the opening minutes of the second half as young half Abbi Turner scored in the corner.

The game continued to be filled with errors and penalties as Dewsbury lost Isabella Naylor to the sin-bin after a high shot on Joanna Lamb.

However, it wasn’t to be for Hull as the home side’s Courtney Marsh score two in just five minutes to ensure the two points were staying in West Yorkshire.

Dewsbury’s Enright added another to her sides tally after a favourable bounce gave her an easy run in to the try line.

However, FC didn’t give us as they kept digging for the final quarter of the match, but they were unable to score despite Lawson convincing chance with less than ten minutes on the clock.
