Veterans' Programme
Hull FC's Community Foundation go the extra mile to support local veterans in more ways than one
When people who have served in the armed forces return to civilian life, they can often find it hard to adjust.
We support and run a number of projects across Hull & the East Riding, giving veterans the chance to connect with others, whilst helping them avoid feelings of loneliness and improve their overall health and wellness.
Veterans have the chance to engage with other members of the armed forces community, engage with Hull FC and find out more about opportunities and activities happening in Hull.
Hull FC have engaged with over 300 military veterans to improve all forms of health for those within the armed forces community.
Cookhouse
Mondays (10am-12pm), MKM Stadium Community Hub
Cookhouse is a weekly session that brings local veterans together on a Monday morning to have a chat over a brew, before tucking into a delicious lunch.
The weekly social sessions offer free refreshments and a wide variety of activities ranging from quizzes, dominos, card games, music and indoor bowls.
Ex-service personnel come together with others who have served, making new friends in the process and enjoying themselves with people that have shared similar experiences.
Bowls
Wednesdays (1.30-3.30pm), Active+, National Avenue
Another opportunity to bring local veterans together every week, we head down to Active+ for a bowls session on Wednesday afternoons.
It’s nothing serious - just a bit of fun and an opportunity to unwind. Ultimately, it’s a fun way to meet other ex-service personnel and share stories, reminisce, and have a laugh.
It’s open to everyone who has previously served in the Armed Forces, regardless of skill level.
If you’re feeling more competitive, you can compete in our Veterans League and compete against other Veterans Bowls teams.
