Young athletes interested in combining their education with elite Rugby League development are invited to attend Bishop Burton College’s upcoming Open Events, hosted in partnership with Hull FC.

Hull FC began a brand new education partnership with Bishop Burton College for the 2025/2026 academic year – the Open Events are an opportunity for potential applicants to explore opportunities for the 206/27 academic year.

The events will take place from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Bishop Burton College on the following dates:

  • Saturday 7 March 2026
  • Saturday 20 June 2026

At each event, visitors will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet Hull FC Youth Development staff, who will be on hand to discuss the College Rugby League Development Academy.
  • Tour Bishop Burton’s top performing facilities and discover the academic and vocational courses available alongside Rugby League training.
  • Speak with current students and staff to gain insight into college life, the training schedule, and how the programme supports both sporting and academic goals.

Launched in September 2025, the partnership between Hull FC and Bishop Burton College provides young players from the club’s Academy, College Development Academy, and U18s Female Pathway with the chance to study a variety of qualifications, including Sport, Business, and Uniformed Public Services, while continuing to develop as athletes.

Learners benefit from access to specialist tutors, industry-leading coaches, former professional players, as well as continued use of the Hull FC Rugby League Performance, Education and Community Hub at the University of Hull.

Hull FC’s Player Development Manager, Jack Lazenby, said, “Through our thriving partnership with Bishop Burton College, student-athletes don’t have to choose between academic ambition and elite sport; they can succeed in both. By combining a high-quality education with the opportunity to develop in Rugby League at a higher standard, we’re creating an environment where players progress not only as athletes, but as disciplined, resilient, and career-ready individuals.”

Claire Barnfather, Bishop Burton’s Director of Faculty GFE, added, “These open events are a brilliant opportunity for students and parents to explore everything the partnership has to offer. They’ll be able to see the facilities, meet the coaches, and learn how we support every learner to reach their full potential.”
