Danny Houghton’s Reserves side fell to a heavy defeat against Warrington at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves scored eight tries in a thoroughly dominant display, with FC’s only score coming through a late Logan Moy consolation.
Team News
FC made three changes to the side that beat London in Round 1.
Tyler Eccles, Caleb Paleaasina and Will Hutchinson dropped out the side.
Logan Moy, Callum Kemp and Joe Phillips came in in their place.
The Match
FC had three set restarts in the Warrington half early into the game. Salabio and Laidlaw nearly burrowed over from close range, before a kick was sent Middlemas’ way, but it just trickled dead.
Against the run of play, the hosts opened the scoring ten minutes in. A scoot from Hartill found space, before a short pass to Max Wood was enough to see the line breached. Irwin converted the try. A penalty helped the Wolves go back-to-back. This time, Thomas charged on to a short ball and scored. Irwin added the extras.
FC had a chance to reduce the deficit a quarter of the way into the game. A cut-out pass would’ve put Middlemas away, but Jake Thewlis intercepted the pass. A big hit on Callum Kemp ended the threat on the next set.
Warrington nearly were through for their third try after nearly half an hour, but a great tackle around the legs stopped Webster from breaking. However, on the next set, the hosts had their try. Holden produced some footwork to round the defender and score the try. The conversion was wide.
Warrington had time for another before half time. Stanton broke and passed to Holden who broke the line to score. The conversion hit the post.

Hull had an immediate chance to start the half with points off the back of a penalty. A spiralling bomb was put up by Callum Kemp, and despite great pressure, Holden took it well.
An error led to Warrington scoring the first points of the second half. The ball was spread wide to Lund who pulled out an incredible acrobatic effort to score. Irwin converted the try.
Both sides traded set for set over the next ten minutes with Hull having the better of it- many Kemp kicks saw Warrington repeatedly having to come out of their own end.
FC had some more defending to do as the game headed into the final quarter. A break from Lund looked dangerous, but good sliding defence stopped him just inside the Hull half. Webster then burrowed over from close range but was adjudged to have knocked on and the visitors survived.
The hosts had another try with just over ten minutes to go. Warrington had a full set inside the Hull twenty and sent a cutout ball to Lund, who raced away for his second score of the game. Irwin couldn’t add the extras. The Wolves went back-to-back, with Coop sidestepping his opposite man for a try. Irwin converted.
Watkinson broke down the left edge in a late flash of brilliance from the Black and Whites, but he couldn’t find Moy on his inside as space began to close.
Warrington grabbed a late try from Lachlan Webster. Irwin converted the try.
In a last minute consolation, Logan Moy scored a try for Hull. The conversion was wide.
