FC named a strong lineup for the Academy derby.

Lloyd Kemp lined up at fullback, while his brother Callum Kemp lined up in the halves, alongside Joseph Thompson. Swyer completed the spine.

Middlemass lined up alongside Prigorkins on the wings, while the forward pack consisted of Callum Smith, Kian Goodhand, Kassim, Wilson and Matthew Shepherdson.

The bench consisted of Eccles, Davies, Alfie Baxter and Zak Nelson-Hewitt.

The Match

The game started in quick fashion, with the Robins capitalising on an error and Docherty scooting over on the last. Walker converted the try.

FC had an immediate chance to reply off the back of another early error. Callum Kemp powered his way over on the last after a great pass from Thompson to level the scores. The conversion was wide. Goodhand was stopped a few metres out on a positive set on the back of points.

Hull had the next opportunity with fifteen minutes gone. The ball was shipped out well to the left, but Middlemas was bundled into touch during the act of scoring. The end to end opening to the game continued with KR having a good opportunity to take the lead on their next attack. Freddie Watts darted through a gap on the last but good defence recovered to hold him up.

FC scored on their next set. A knock on from the fullback under pressure from Kassim was scooped up and dotted down for the try by Middlemass. Thompson converted. The Robins immediately responded though, working the ball through the hands to Henry Hope who scored on the last. The conversion was off target.

KR were penalised for a tip tackle on the half hour mark and Hull had a great chance to retake the lead. A neat kick from Thompson forced a repeat set but strong defence forced an error. The visitors then had a good spell attacking the FC line and crossed in the corner through Frankie Dearlove. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

The last act of the half saw Lloyd Kemp shoot through a gap but the Robins defence scrambled to keep him out.

FC had the first chance of the half off the back of a penalty and they made it count. Kemp sent a cutout ball to Ward who dived over the line from close range. Thompson converted the try superbly. An error put KR in the position to respond though, but they were penalised for obstruction about ten metres out.

The Robins had another chance fifty minutes in. Adams shot through a line but had no one in support. A repeat set saw Forrester sent through a gap and over the line but it was adjudged to be a forward pass.

The Robins got a penalty and were back on the attack after 55 minutes. The kick was too long from Smith, and the seven tackle set, later compounded by a penalty, put Hull in position to extend their lead. A great defensive read denied Preston Ward his second.
