Hull FC are saddened to learn of the passing of former player Graham Evans.

The former Black & White centre made 41 appearances for the club between 1979 and 1981.

Evans, who scored ten tries for the club, was a regular feature for the side following their ‘Invincibles’ season in 1978/79, joining the club from Keighley following their promotion back to the First Division.

Evans made some 34 appearances during the 1979/80 season, including in the club’s 13-3 BBC 2 Floodlit Trophy Final victory over cross-city rivals Hull KR – a match in which Evans scored a crucial try.

He was unfortunate to miss out on an appearance in the 1980 Challenge Cup Fina, having been taken ill on the day of the game.

He went on to make seven more appearances in the 1980/81 season, before moving on to Halifax.

Evans also represented Huddersfield, Swinton, Bradford, Carlisle, and Hunslet, making 463 career appearances in total, with 106 tries to his name.

The club pass on their condolences to Graham’s family and friends, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
