The 22-year-old fullback joined the club on a loan deal on Tuesday, alongside fellow Super League youngsters Josh Simm and Ellis Longstaff.

Walker reported for his first session under Brett Hodgson in East Yorkshire yesterday morning.

“It’s been a morning of getting to know all of the boys and the coaching staff,” he said.

“We did a bit of mobility work this, so stretching, checking in with the physios. Then it was out on the field for a session and we did a bit of wrestle and work in the gym in the afternoon.

“They’ve all given me a really warm welcome. To be fair, I already know a few of the lads, so that’s helped me a little bit in that respect.

“So, yeah it’s been a great day so far.”

It’s been straight to work for Hull’s new contingent of loan signings, with a crucial game against arch rivals Hull KR coming up at Magic Weekend this Sunday.

But coming into a new environment at such short notice, that hasn’t stopped Walker from discovering the bitter rivalry between the two clubs.

“All of the boys are excited for it and nobody’s really shut up about it since I came in,” he said.

“I’m buzzing to be a part of it and I can’t wait for Sunday now.

“I want to try and help people get a smile back on their faces and help this club get some wins under their belt moving forward.

“Getting a consistent run of games is going to be massive for me. I think I got about eight games under my belt at the start of the season, but I’ve had a fair bit of time off, so I’m just really keen to kick on and finish the season strongly now.”
