Team News

Brett Hodgson made several changes to the side that faced St Helens, with Adam Swift and Luke Gale both coming back into the side.

Danny Houghton started, and made his 400th club appearance for the Black & Whites – one of only ten players to reach the milestone for the club.

The Match

The Black & Whites opened the scoring after just three minutes when Adam Swift finished off a nice move in the left corner thanks to some quick hands on the left edge.

FC doubled their lead on the ten minute mark when a superb pass to the right edge from Jake Connor found Darnell McIntosh, who raced in unopposed to score FC’s second.

And a superb start for Hull saw Swift grab his second and FC’s third within the first 15 minutes of the conest when some more quick hands saw the winger get past his opposition man in Bevan French to score in the corner.

The Warriors hit back through when John Bateman burrowed over from close range with their first real chance of the game. Smith added the goal.

But Hull were soon back in control with their fourth of the half when some electric off the cuff play in the Warriors half saw Josh Reynolds collect a Jake Connor offload at pace to dart over under the posts. Gale converted.

The Warriors hit back once more with some quick hands finding Liam Marshall on the left side, with the winger having the pace to finish the move.

Half-Time: Hull FC 18-12 Wigan Warriors

The Warriors drew level for the first time in the game ten minutes into the second-half when Bevan French raced away down the right flank and finished off at pace under the sticks. Smith converted to make it eighteen a piece.

Hull were back ahead within minutes though; as the Warriors let a loose ball bounce to seemingly go out of play, Carlos Tuimavave popped up out of nowhere to collect and skip down the right to score. Gale converted.

Gale the slotted over a drop-goal to extend Hull’s lead to seven points, but Wigan made things interesting in the closing stages when Liam Farrell charged over with five minutes to play.

However, Hull sealed the win in spectacular style with just three minutes remaining on the clock when Chris Satae powered over in front of a rampant South Stand to claim a memorable Hull&Proud Week victory!
