A dominant display from the Black & Whites saw them record their biggest home victory since October 2020 as they defeated Salford Red Devils 48-16 at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Team News

The Black & Whites welcomed back Jake Connor from suspension, while Ben McNamara and Josh Bowden also came into the side for the first time this season.

Hull were without Carlos Tuimavave who missed out with a hamstring strain, while Andre Savelio served the final game of a two-match suspension, while Luke Gale served the first of a five game suspension.

Hull remained without Scott Taylor, Joe Cator, Manu Ma’u, Kane Evans, and Jacob Hookem.

The Match

Hull’s first chance of the game came on the 12 minute mark as a break down the right edge saw Darnell McIntosh attempt an acrobatic finish in the corner, but he was forced into touch.

Three minutes later though, he did have his first try on home soil. With Jake Connor putting an accurate grubber kick into the corner, McIntosh had the pace to touch down with ease.

Hull hit Salford with a quick-fire double, and it was Connor who was the provider again; finding a cut-out pass for Cameron Scott, the centre had acres of space to fire through a gap in the opposition line and score. Connor converted the goal.

FC had their third and Scott his second with a lovely bit of work down the right edge, breaking away and chipping the ball over the top to finish.

Hull began to run away with the scoreline with a fourth before the half-hour mark, with Joe Lovodua getting his first MKM Stadium try, nudging through the line and reaching out to touch down. Connor kicked his second goal.

Salford did hit back though before the break; a high bomb into the FC danger area saw centre Tim Lafai come up trumps, catching the ball and scoring under the sticks. Sneyd converted to reduce the gap.

Half-Time: Hull FC 20-6 Salford Red Devils

Hull began the second-half where they finished the first, and Jake Connor went from provider to scorer by grabbing his own try, powering over the line to score.

FC made it another quick-fire double when Jordan Lane capped off a special week following the birth of his baby daughter, with a try for himself, pouncing on a ball in the in-goal. McIntosh converted this time.

Lane got his second in as many minutes, carrying several Salford men with him to the line with a powerful line-break from 20 metres out, and having the strength to go all the way and score.

It was eight for Hull when Josh Reynolds pounced on a bouncing ball that the Salford full-back couldn’t, and touched down under the sticks.

Salford hit back with a consolation from Ken Sio, who broke down their right edge and had the pace to score.

Hull put the cherry on top of the cake when fan favourite Chris Satae waltzed through for his own score in the closing stages of the match.
