The first phase of the Black & Whites’ pre-season training schedule came to a gruelling end today, with the first-team squad embarking on a series of conditioning challenges across Beverley.

An early start on a frosty morning in East Yorkshire saw the first group of squad members embark on a four kilometre kayaking route along the River Hull between the hamlets of Weel and Eske, with players battling almost freezing conditions on the water in pairs.

Meanwhile, the second group of players took to the riverbank on foot, running the length of the route before meeting up with the rest of the squad further downstream and swapping into the kayaks.

Later on, the painstaking pre-season graft continued with the squad linking up for an eight kilometre time trial on Beverley Westwood, completing four laps around the northern part of the pasture, featuring differing terrain including the autumnal Burton Bushes.

The players will now enjoy a short break before returning to the Jacuzzi Elite Performance Centre for phase two of pre-season training in the run-up to Christmas and the New Year.
