The match report as Hull go down to the Tigers.

Match Report News

The Black & Whites fell to a disappointing defeat to Castleford Tigers on Thursday evening, going down 23-12 at the MKM Stadium.

The Airlie Birds remained in the game until the closing stages, with tries from Adam Swift and Jake Connor, but a Jordan Turner brace as well as scores from Niall Evalds was enough to give the Tigers the points.

Team News

Hull made four changes going into the games with several players dropping out after the clash with the Robins; Josh Reynolds (medial ligament) and Joe Cator (Achilles) were unavailable having sustained long-term injuries.

Jamie Shaul and Jack Brown also dropped out of contention, while quartet Ben McNamara, Chris Satae, Mahe Fonua and Jordan Johnstone came into the side.

The Match

The Tigers drew first blood in the game with Jordan Turner crashing over from close range after just three minutes, with Castleford’s very first attack in the Hull half.

Hull though, with their first real chance in the opposition half, soon made it one try a-piece, as Adam Swift dived over acrobatically in the corner for his 13th of the season, making him Betfred Super League’s joint highest try-scorer in 2021.

Sneyd added the goal, which saw him become Hull’s highest-point scorer of the Super League era, overtaking Danny Tickle.

Hull were given a boost when the Tigers were reduced to twelve men, with Liam Watts sent to the sin-bin for a dangerous tackle on Jordan Lane.

Richardson added a drop-goal for the Tigers with 10 minutes remaining in the half to give them a one-point , but Turner would finish off a quick move down their left edge to get his second before the break.

Half-Time: Hull FC 6-13 Castleford Tigers

Hull absorbed plenty of pressure in the third quarter of the game, holding the Tigers up over the Hull line three times.

Just short of the hour mark, Richardson made it a nine-point lead by adding a penalty goal.

He soon had a try to his personal tally too; with the Tigers having the numbers over on the far side of the field, he finished off their third score of the game.

Hull hit back though to give themselves a chance, with Jake Connor collecting a lovely offload from jordan Lane close to the line to score Hull’s second, with the conversion from Sneyd brining Hull within seven.

However, Castleford sealed the win with five minutes to play as Niall Evalds broke through a gap in the FC line
