Hull FC fans are being invited to donate their old Black & White clothing to help the homeless

Community News

The Hull FC Community Foundation are inviting fans to donate their old and unwanted black and white clothing to help support the region’s homeless community.

Let’s be honest – we all love collecting our Hull FC jerseys and training gear through the years, but there is only so much our wardrobes can take!

So instead of throwing away your shirts you no longer have room for, the Community Foundation are looking to take unwanted gear off your hands to be donated to Hull & East Yorkshire’s homeless community.

While the number of rough sleepers on the city’s streets have dropped during the Covid-19 pandemic due to the government’s emergency temporary accommodation scheme, the lifting of restrictions including the end of the freeze on evictions mean that numbers will unfortunately inevitably rise over the coming months.

Almost 1,000 homeless deaths occurred in 2020 across the UK; an increase of 37% on the previous year, including 16 people in Hull who were either living on the streets, ‘sofa surfing’, or in emergency accommodation, according to the Museum of Homelessness as part of their Dying Homeless Project.

The Community Foundation are aiming to play a small role in supporting the city’s homeless community with the help of Hull FC fans, by donating their unwanted black and white attire to those who may be less fortunate than themselves during these challenging times.

Supporters will be able to drop off their donations at our club retail stores at the MKM Stadium, St Stephen’s shopping centre, and Savile Street from Monday 26th July, with every supporter who makes a donation entered into a draw to win a 2022 principal jersey before this coming Christmas!

Supporters will also have the opportunity to donate their unwanted Hull FC clothing at Thursday’s fixture against Leeds Rhinos at the MKM Stadium, with a dedicated drop-off zone in our Family Zone outside the West Stand.

We will be accepting any piece of Hull FC clothing, whether it be new or old, including jerseys, training wear, jackets, hoodies, hats, scarves and more – we do ask that items are clean and in reasonable condition.

Please note, we cannot accept items including underwear, swimming/bathing suits, facemasks etc.

All donations will then be distributed by the Hull FC Community Foundation, who are working alongside local homeless support organisations, and ensuring all items are delivered to those in need.

It is not the first time the Hull FC Community Foundation have played their part in supporting the local homeless community:
