Hull & Rovers Team Up For Joint LDRL Sessions

The Hull FC Community Foundation and Hull KR Community Trust will team up for joint LDRL sessions this Spring.

Community News

The Hull FC Community Foundation are to join in partnership with the Hull KR Community Trust to deliver virtual training sessions to participants of both clubs’ Learning Disability Rugby League teams throughout March and April.

There may still be restrictions and uncertainty over when players and teams can gather together again face-to-face, but all the coaches involved are determined to deliver to both sets of players virtually.

On the back of each of the participants receiving their Rugby League World Cup 2021 Journals and their own branded rugby league ball, kindly organised and distributed by Community Integrated Care and the Rugby Football League, the coaches of both sets of teams are keen to deliver various challenges and exercises to both sets of participants and compete in fun-filled activities against each other to win spot prizes.

Starting on Thursday 4th March, 18:30-19:30, the joint sessions will take place once every two weeks, and each session will focus on a skill that’s included in the participants RLWC 2021 Journal for that specific week.

During the usual weekly Tuesday evening sessions, the participants of Hull FC LDRL will still be focusing on body weight exercise circuits and individual skills that they have been taking part in since the beginning of January.

Bradley Sugden, joint-coach of Hull FC LDRL team, said: “It’s great to link up with the Hull KR Community Trust and deliver this project to our participants virtually.

“We have added these bi-weekly Thursday sessions on top of our current weekly Tuesday sessions, so it’s another good opportunity for our participants to keep fit and healthy and socially active whilst staying safe in their own homes.

“We have also discussed the possibility of a ‘friendly’ LDRL fixture between both teams, when government guidelines allow, so I think the joint sessions will be a great way for the teams to meet virtually and engage some friendly rivalry.

“Hopefully this will be the first of many opportunities to link up with Hull KR, not just on this project but also on some of the other projects that we both currently deliver.”
