Hull FC’s Rugby Community Sports and Education Foundation is celebrating after being awarded £32,120 of National Lottery funding from the Sport England Return to Play Community Asset Fund.
The Return to Play: Community Asset Fund is focused solely on helping support clubs and community groups through the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic to return to play.
It is designed to provide capital funding, predominantly from the National Lottery, to help local sports clubs and organisations to adapt and open important places and spaces so people within their community can return to play and physical activity, safely.
The grant will allow the Foundation to support three developments at the Centre of Excellence facility located on Pickering Road:
- To increase office space used by our team of community coaches, expanding the current work space into a disused store cupboard, creating an open plan space which supports social distancing with improved ventilation.
- Funding will support installation of a new ventilation system throughout the facility which will include within the main sports hall, gym, activity studios, and changing facilities.
- Funding will be used to purchase new portable floodlights to allow more sport and physical activity sessions delivered by the Foundation and other community users of the facility to take place using the natural outdoor space which surrounds the facility.
